National Design Award
In 2007, C&G Partners were Finalists for the National Design Award in Communication Design. This award is “given to an individual or firm for exceptional and exemplary work in graphic or multimedia design.” From Cooper-Hewitt:
The National Design Awards were conceived in 1997 by the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum to honor the best in American design. First launched at the White House in 2000 as an official project of the White House Millennium Council, the annual Awards program celebrates design in various disciplines as a vital humanistic tool in shaping the world, and seeks to increase national awareness of design by educating the public and promoting excellence, innovation, and lasting achievement. The Awards are truly national in scope—nominations for the Awards are solicited from a committee of more than 800 leading designers, educators, journalists, cultural figures, and corporate leaders from every state in the nation.
CBS Sunday Morning
In 2006, C&G Partners appeared twice on CBS News Sunday Morning, first on their annual “Money Issue” show, and then in an encore the following week. The firm was asked to create a visual brand identity for the show itself, and a correspondent and crew followed a design team inside the office for three days. The segment was left unfinished on purpose on the first Sunday, with three possible final contenders for the solution. CBS News launched a web voting site and 16,000 people voted for their favorite. Watch the video results here.
The AIGA Medal
In 2005, C&G Partners co-founder Steff Geissbuhler was given the AIGA Medal, the highest award of the profession, referring to him as the “designer of some of the most memorable posters and definitive corporate-identity programs of the latter part of the 20th century.”
From the AIGA:
The medal of the AIGA, the most distinguished in the field, is awarded to individuals in recognition of their exceptional achievements, services or other contributions to the field of graphic design and visual communication. The contribution may be in the practice of graphic design, teaching, writing or leadership of the profession. … Individuals who are honored may work in any country, but the contribution for which they are honored should have had a significant impact on the practice of graphic design in the United States.
