C&G Partners responded to ever-growing needs of Haiti and its citizens in the aftermath of its earthquake by making donations to four individual organizations. Three of these are endorsed by AIGA for their efficiency, productivity, and minimization of administrative expenses: Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), UNICEF, and Partners In Health. The fourth organization is a client of the firm – Mercy Corps – which has both donation opportunities and a fundraising page builder, all for the benefit of Haiti. The Nonprofit Finance Fund, a national leader in financing nonprofits, has recently unveiled a new brand identity, designed by C&G Partners. On Friday, C&G Partners played host to a group of visiting design students and faculty from Morehead State University in Kentucky, talking about design and how a design office works. Go, Eagles!
C&G Partners has a long tradition of hosting traveling groups from design schools in our office, so that they can see what we do and what it’s like to work here. We get a lot out of it too: the perspective of students from around the country, and around the world, helps to keep us on our toes. Today, partner Steff Geissbuhler spoke to a group from Buckinghamshire New University in England, led by senior lecturer John Hazlewood, about his thoughts on design.
We frequently host student groups; last week we met a group of students from Northampton University, London. We asked our new Buckinghamshire friends today if it was as cold in the UK as it is here at the moment, and the answer was a resounding “no.” Sorry about that!

On a related note, the next design documentary by Hustwit, Objectified, also with cameraman Luke Geissbuhler, will be released in Spring 2009. More about Luke’s role on this new film about product design here. The new trailer via YouTube:
During the holidays, our Annual Artist for 2009, Nina Katchadourian, installed three pieces in the office. Stay tuned for a detailed post on Nina and her work. Meanwhile, some sneak preview pictures of our lobby, featuring Nina’s debate-inspiring “Continuum of Cute”.
