Fresh Awards: Against the Odds wins at Core 77 Awards

Just announced at the first Core 77 Conference, C&G has won a 2014 Interiors and Exhibitions Professional Notable Award for the design of the exhibit Against the Odds at Museum of Jewish Heritage. This is one of several awards the firm has won for Against the Odds – including SEGD and the New York Design Awards. Jury comments: “A compelling and very smart use of a basic material—the cascades of paper that frame and divide this exhibition space—conjures a haunting atmosphere of rich and appropriate references for a museum of Jewish refugees: the difficulties of achieving political documentation, the lost and scattered pages of a history interrupted over the centuries by pogroms and violence, and the literate impulse and diasporic folktales so central to the ‘People of the Book.’ A beautifully yet subtly realized exhibition.” “I think the falling papers wall is so emotive and sculptural and beautiful…” The jury for the Interiors and Exhibition category included Michi Yanagishita and Yen Ha – Principals at Front Studio , Hayley Eber – Co-Founder of EFGH and Adjunct Professor at The Cooper Union, Jake Barton – Principal and Founder of Local Projects and Geoff Manaugh – Author of BldgBlog and Editor-in-Chief at Gizmodo About the Core77 Design Awards: “Recognizing excellence in all areas of design enterprise, the Core77 Design Awards celebrates the richness of the design profession and the brilliance of its practitioners.
