Barneys New York
Identity & Collateral
Barney’s was once a discount clothing store. The Manhattan store was modernized and given a more sophisticated design, including a new brand identity. The project began with removing the apostrophe to de-emphasize the feeling of a first name. The space between the “w” and the “y” in New York was dropped too, allowing the two lines to stack evenly. Serendipitously, this also resulted in the creation of a vertical NY down the middle.
