The firm designed the full-color monograph, Lake Antiquity, which contains over twelve years worth of irreverent and whimsical text-collages, paste-ups, and found-poetry by author Brandon Downing. We conceived an almost 200-page long, large format book in order to emphasize the work's details and maximize legibility. To pay tribute to the work's originality, the layout and spreads were kept simple and direct, with accent backdrops for a few spotlighted pages. The strategic use of color and the image sizing and placement create a rhythmic pacing throughout the page sequencing. This approach lets the subversive nature embedded in the content remain unmasked, while the two centuries' worth of cultural absurdities resourced as fodder for the book stand out clearly to the reader.
