NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory has sent famous robotic missions to every planet and the Sun., to understand our place in the universe and search for life beyond Earth. C&G Partners created a JPL visitor center experience based on a tour of the solar system, for public open houses and official visits.

Structured around the idea of a tour through the solar system, we proposed an environment that would be an immersive introduction to the beauty of our stellar neighborhood, emphasizing the planets as destinations, and juxtaposed with models of the actual instruments and satellites created by JPL to explore space, among them such missions as Voyager, Cassini and Curiosity.

Through updateable, modular display techniques, interpretive displays in the Center can be quickly moved for special events.

Given JPL’s focus, robustness and reliability were key to success in design. But most important was the idea that JPL makes magic happen, and for visitors to understand how technology and knowledge combine to advance human understanding of our universe and earth.
