A website design, inspired by the physics of light, to celebrate a century of optics, photonics and laser science.
Founded in 1916, The Optical Society (OSA) is the leading professional association in optics and photonics. Through world-renowned publications, meetings, and membership programs, OSA provides quality information and inspiring interactions that power achievements in the science of light. The Society celebrates a century of innovation this year. To commemorate the organization’s 100th year, C&G Partners was tasked with developing a centennial microsite. Launched in January, the microsite updated throughout the year to reveal 100 iconic achievements in the world of optics and photonics from the Hubble Space Telescope to solar panel technology. Other features of the microsite include an animated timeline of OSA’s history and an interactive map charting the group's many global chapters. Imagery for the centennial material was inspired by colors and forms found in the refraction of light rays that are central to optics and photonics. The project showcases the legacy of OSA in the field of optics and photonics and inspires the application and study of the technology.
